From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The lira was the currency of the Papal States between 1866 and 1870. It replaced the scudo at a rate of 5.375 lire = 1 scudo [1] and was equivalent to the Italian lira. The lira was subdivided into 20 soldi (singular: soldo) or 100 centesimi (singular: centesimo).

Copper coins were issued in denominations of 1 centesimo, ½, 1, 2 and 4 soldi, with silver 5 and 10 soldi, 1, 2, 2½ and 5 lire, and gold 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 lire.
