Encyclopedia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A partial ponytail is a hairstyle where the hair behind the fringe and at the ears is pulled back into a ponytail and the rest of the hair is let loose. It is quite a popular hairstyle amongst girls and women. Partial ponytails can be secured by either hair clips or hair ties or even ribbons.

Notable partial ponytails

- In the 1971 musical film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Violet Beauregarde (played by Denise Nickerson) has brunette hair which she wears in a partial ponytail.

- In the What's New, Scooby Doo? episode "A Terrifying Round with a Menacing Metallic Clown", Miranda Wright, Shaggy's impertinent and cocky rival in golf sports a blonde partial ponytail.

- In the 1997 film Anastasia, the hairstyle Anya wears when wearing her pyjamas on the ship on the way to Paris (just before she has the nightmare sent by Rasputin) is a partial ponytail (though, strangely, when she is sleep-walking on the ship's decks, her hair somehow manages to get into a normal ponytail with the same light blue ribbon).

- In the 1988 Disney film Oliver and Company Jenny Foxworth wears her hair in a partial ponytail (though she is shown to wear it loose when going to bed).

- Amy Jo Johnson occasionally has had her hair in a partial ponytail.
