The story continues from the previous Patapon game wherein the Patapons have finished building the bridge to help them crossed the river to a new land. The game story is beginning at a mysterious box that they found. A big surprise was happened when they open this box. Seven evil spirits come out and turn every Patapons into stone except Hatapon. And now Hatapon needs to find a way to help their Patapons.
The game retains some of the units passed down from the first two games but also include newer ones that would aid the player to defeat the seven evil spirits.
The Bonedeth are the main enemies in the game so far. They appear with green skull-like masks.
An online, multi-player beta was made available for North America and Europe via download in the Playstation Store on July 6(NA) and July 7(Europe), 2010.
