Patrick Wintour is political editor of The Guardian, known for his contacts inside the Labour government.
Serving as paper's chief political correspondent from 1999–2006 after a spell as political editor of the Guardian's Sunday sister The Observer, Wintour was appointed political editor on the 2006 retirement of Michael White.
Wintour's sister, Anna, is editor of American Vogue, while his father, Charles, was editor of the Evening Standard, and his brother Jim is arranging equestarian events at the 2012 Olympics. He is currently married to Rachel Sylvester, a journalist at The Times. He has four children, Eleanor, Luke, Will and Jake. The two eldest were with his previous wife journalist Madeleine Bunting.
