Pierre Garçon (born August 8, 1986[1] in Carmel, New York)[2] is a Haitian-American American football wide receiver for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Colts in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He played college football at Mount Union.

High school career

Garçon attended John I. Leonard High School in Lake Worth, Florida where he was a wide receiver, as well as a kick/punt returner.

College career

Garçon started his college career at Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont, before transferring to Mount Union College in the Ohio Athletic Conference. He averaged over 60 catches, 1000 yards and 15 touchdowns every season as a Purple Raider.

Professional career

Pierre Garçon was drafted by Colts in 2008, and he spent the entire season as a backup receiver. He worked his way through the back up competition and made the active roster in 2009. During the 2009 training camp, Garçon competed with rookie Austin Collie along with Roy Hall for the third wide receiver position. However, at the end of camp, Collie was named the slot wide receiver, while Garçon was named first backup to Reggie Wayne. After starter Anthony Gonzalez suffered a knee injury in week one, Garçon moved to the starting position ahead of Collie, playing there for the remainder of the season until a hand injury (combined with the coaching staff's desire to rest starters) caused him to miss weeks 16 and 17. The 2009 season saw the young receiver carve a niche as a deep threat in Peyton Manning's passing attack.

During the 2009 season, Garçon had 47 receptions for 765 yards and 4 touchdowns.
