Pinta is a lightweight open-source image drawing and editing program for Linux inspired by Paint.NET (which runs only on Windows). It's written in C# and uses GTK+ toolkit, Cairo library and some code from Paint.NET (adjustments and effects)[1]. It tries to offer a simpler alternative to GIMP on the GNOME desktop environment.[2] It has been created by Jonathan Pobst from Novell.[3]
