Bahrain used the postage stamps of British India opted with Bahrain from 1933 to 1947 depicting George V (1933) and then George VI from 1938. Then from 1948 to 1960 they used the stamps of Great Britain depicting Queen Elizabeth II from her coronation in 1952 to 1957. Bahrain issued its first stamps in 1960, honoring Sheikh Sulman bin Hamed al-Khalifa and with Arabic text written at the top.[1]
