Prehistorik 2 is a sequel to the platform game Prehistorik. It was developed by Titus Interactive for DOS and Amstrad CPC in 1993.
Like in its predecessor, the main character of Prehistorik 2 is a caveman who goes in quest for food, fighting various animals and humorous end of level bosses.
The game is a simple platform game where the player walks and jumps his/her way through the levels and whacks enemies in the head with a club. Points can be collected by both whacking enemies and collecting items (including food, diamonds, video games, etc). The levels contain hidden food items which can be discovered by hitting the right spots with the club.
The creators added a lot of detail to the game, which indeed increases the entertainment factor. If the player runs for a long distance and then stops, the caveman will be out of breath.
Controlling the game is very simple, with only the four arrow keys for movement and the space bar as attack button.
Instead of having to collect at least the right amount of food to be able to reach the next level as in Prehistorik, in Prehistorik 2 it is only required to get a lighter before the player can go to the next level. All in all, there are ten levels plus three bonus levels.
From 1996 on, a funny notice stating that the game still works in 2009 (or whatever other year the computers date is set to) appears when starting the EXE file.
Some PC setups with newer hardware and processors may experience problems during gameplay, however this is usual when running an older program on a newer configuration. Temporarily turning off CPU's L1 cache may relieve the situation.
An interesting feature of this game is that level codes differ on every machine with a different BIOS. For example, if you play Prehistorik 2 in DOSBox, you'll get different codes than playing in Windows XP.
The game was later ported to Game Boy and Super Nintendo Entertainment System versions, called Prehistorik Man, which was later ported too to a Game Boy Advance version. There's also a DSiWare version of this game released in North America on February 15, 2010.

Prehistorik Man is a platform game by Titus that originally debuted on the SNES in 1995. It was soon ported to the Game Boy, and five years later it returned on the Game Boy Advance.
The game plays similarly to other platform games of its time, such as Aero the Acro-Bat, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Super Mario World.
Dinosaurs have raided the village's food supply, so it's Sam's job to go on a quest to retrieve food and bones (prehistoric currency) to keep his village alive and thriving. The legendary dinosaur graveyard holds thousands of bones, so Sam and the best men of the village are sent in its direction. If he succeeds, the chief of the village will allow Sam to marry the chief's daughter and become the new chief.
