Priest is an upcoming vampire-western film based off the manhwa of the same name. The film is directed by Scott Stewart and stars Paul Bettany, Cam Gigandet and Maggie Q[3].

Plot

The film is about a warrior priest (Paul Bettany) who disobeys church law by teaming with a young sheriff (Cam Gigandet) and a priestess (Maggie Q) to track down a group of renegade vampires who kidnapped his niece.[4]

Production

Andrew Douglas (The Amityville Horror remake) was originally set to direct the movie with Gerard Butler and Steven Strait set to star, but the plans fell through[11].

Director Scott Stewart revealed in a January 2010 interview that the film's non-human, "feral" vampires will be digitally generated. [12]

Release

The film will premiere on 14 January 2011 in 3D.[13]. It was formerly planned with an release on August 20th 2010.[14] Formerly it had been slated for an August 27th 2010 release.[15] The original release date was October 1st 2010.[16]

Background

  • Both Cam Gigandet and Stephen Moyer have starred as vampires: Gigandet in Twilight as James, and Moyer in the HBO television series True Blood as vampire Bill Compton.
