The film is about a warrior priest (Paul Bettany) who disobeys church law by teaming with a young sheriff (Cam Gigandet) and a priestess (Maggie Q) to track down a group of renegade vampires who kidnapped his niece.[2]
The post-apocalyptic horror thriller based on a spec-script by Cory Goodman and has almost nothing in common with the Tokyopop Manhwa that bears the same name from Min-Woo Hyung, except the name.[9]. Andrew Douglas (The Amityville Horror remake) was originally set to direct the movie with Gerard Butler and Steven Strait set to star, but the plans fell through[10]; the original release date was set for August 17, 2007[11].
The film will premiere on August 20th 2010.[12] Formerly it had been slated for an August 27th 2010 release.[13] The original release date was October 1st 2010.[14]
