The music score was by Francis James Brown and Stanley Joseph Seeger, credited jointly as "Joseph James", the cinematography by Ted Moore. The two versions available on DVD are in the wrong aspect ration (1:33.1 instead of 1:85.1) and the shorter edit (94 minutes) ends abruptly and omits an interesting epilogue set in New Mexico. The scene featuring Sarah Miles is also missing.

The film stars Ian McKellen, Janet Suzman, Ava Gardner and Penelope Keith with Jorge Rivero, John Gielgud and Sarah Miles.
