The Prime Minister of Tunisia is the head of government of Tunisia. The Prime Minister is appointed by the President of Tunisia. The incumbent Prime Minister is Mohammed Ghannouchi, since 17 November 1999. Since independence, the Prime Minister, like Presidents Habib Bourguiba and Zine el Abidine Ben Ali, has been a member of the Socialist Destourian Party (since 1988, Constitutional Democratic Rally).
