Elisabeth of Savoy, known in Italian as Maria Elisabetta di Savoia, or in full as Maria Francesca Elisabetta Carlotta Giuseppina di Savoia (13 April 1800, - 25 December 1856) was a Princess of Carignano and the maternal grandmother of Vittorio Emanuele II, the first king of a united Italy.

Family

She was born in Paris to Charles Emmanuel, Prince of Carignan. (1770-1800) and Maria Cristina Albertina of Saxony (1779-1851), and was the younger sister of Charles Albert, future King of Sardinia.

Marriage and children

On 28 May 1820 she was married in Prague to Archduke Rainer of Austria, Viceroy of the Kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia.

With Rainer she had eight children:

Elisabeth died in Bolzano on Christmas Day, 1856.
