The Progressive Liberal Party is a populist party in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas commonly abbreviated PLP.

In The Bahamas National Assembly, the PLP has 17 out of 41 seats. Perry Christie is the leader of the party and leader of the Opposition. Mr. Christie was Prime Minister of The Bahamas between May 2, 2002 and May 2, 2007 when he was defeated by the rival Free National Movement, which won 23 seats. FNM leader, Hubert Ingraham is now the Prime Minister.

The PLP was founded in 1953, twenty years before independence. The party governed for a total of 30 years, from 1967 to 1992 and again from 2002 to 2007. Leading the party to its first victory in 1967 was Lynden Oscar Pindling, the country's first Prime Minister. After defeat in the 2007 general elections and one of its MPs leaving the party since, the PLP now holds 17 of the 41 seats in the Bahamas' House of Assembly.
