Puff Puff was a mobile game released in 2010 on the Apple Inc. iPhone platform and developed for the purpose of raising awareness and funds to address environmental problems part of the Holocene extinction (known as the Sixth Mega Extinction). Ten percent of game purchase proceeds are donated to organizations dedicated to protecting coral reef ecosystem restoration, including those affected by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Funding for Puff Puff was generated via Person-to-person lending. Puff Puff was released as “goodware,” (see Careware), where the source code was distributed freely to other developers with a suggestion to use the software to help address other social and environmental problems.[1]
