Ra. One is an upcoming Bollywood science-fiction superhero film directed by Anubhav Sinha and starring Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor. The film is reported to have a budget of INR 1 billion, making it the second-most expensive film in India, after Blue, and equaling the record of My Name Is Khan's buyover for the same price. On 10 February 2010 Khan stated on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross that Jackie Chan "has been approached for a role in the film, and hopefully we will see Jackie in the film, also stating that he could not afford him because he is too expensive " But Jackie Chan has still not confirmed about his presence in the film.[4]The film will be produced under Shahrukh Khan's production company Red Chillies Entertainment.[5]

This film will reportedly have "breathtaking" stunts from Shahrukh Khan, which will be for the first time for him. The special effects team is being hired from Hollywood. Khan has already started working out to prepare himself to be able to perform the "daring" stunts for the film. Khan, who is set to go flying in the sky to save mankind in this film, will have to fight with "ten megalomaniac villains, each representing one head of demon King Raavan".[8]
Shahrukh khan reportedly plays a Miami software engineer Shekhar in the film, who as a video-game hero takes on his self-created techno-monster “Ra.One”. Shooting locations include Miami (Florida, USA).[9]Shooting is said to be started in march 2010.[10].
Reportedly, Shahrukh Khan is "gymming" on a deadline. His superhero character in this film has to have six-pack abs and he has to rebuild them before he starts shooting for it next month. Shahrukh Khan had developed his famous six-pack abs the first time for his shirtless appearance in Om Shanti Om. He was unable to maintain it when he underwent shoulder surgery last year. Now, he is back to rebuilding them for Ra. 1. He claims he is almost there and his packs in his lower abdomen are yet to fully develop. He would be ready to go shirtless again in two months.[11]
Vivek Oberoi is getting an opportunity to get the cast in this film, but nothing has been officially confirmed yet. The original choice to play the villain was Arjun Rampal. But Rampal is dealing with a back problem. The problem could mean that he might be unable to perform the required stunts in the movie.[12]. Akon and Shahrukh khan reportedly met in Los Angeles, USA. It was reported that Akon, besides singing one song, would also form part of the cast.[13]. However, Sinha very strongly contradicted the conflicting reports in the media stating that Akon would be acting in Ra.1. He said, “Akon is only singing for our film. He is not acting in Ra.1.”[14]
