From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Racial literacy is a critical race theory (CRT) framework developed by Lani Guinier. Through a CRT lens, literacy is a form of property owned and controlled by Whites. To address this, Guinier suggests a need for race literacy. Race literacy requires that race be understood as an instrument of control, socially, geographically, and economically. It is meant to be used diagnostically and analytically. Race literacy also requires racism to be confronted head on, to be teased out of debates about public process, and, like CRT, to be understood as an institutional creation.
