Rambo is a side-scrolling action-adventure game produced by Pack-In-Video and released in North America by Acclaim on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) on December 4, 1987 in Japan, and May 1988 in North America. It is based on the film Rambo: First Blood Part II. This game also bears resemblance to the 1987 NES game Zelda II: The Adventure of Link.

Gameplay

While the game's cover art predominantly displays Rambo firing heavy ammo, unlike the movies the game has Rambo fighting mostly snakes, spiders, and animals at the beginning and then slowly moves on to fighting with actual people with better ammunition. Also, Rambo's primary weapon for the majority of the game is his knife. However towards the end a huge variety of weapons are collected.

Ending

The ending sequence features allows the player to throw a giant kanji character (, Ikari) towards Murdoch after returning to the base, which turns Murdoch into a frog.[1][2] The kanji is a reference to the Japanese title of the film, which was known as ランボー/怒りの脱出 (Ranbō: Ikari no Dasshutsu, Rambo: The Furious Escape)
