Ramesh Talwar is an Indian film director. He directed six films between 1977 and 2000 and was Yash Chopra's assistant director for eight films between 1969 and 1981. He is best known for directing Baseraa (1981) which garnered him a Filmfare Best Director Award nomination.[1]
Talwar began as an assistant director in 1969 on the film Ittefaq to Yash Chopra. This marked the beginning of a series of films in which he assisted Chopra throughout the 1970s. A number of Chopra's films are highly acclaimed in India.
Talwar's first film as main director, Doosra Aadmi (1977), which starred Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Singh, Rakhee, Shashi Kapoor, Deven Verma and Parikshat Sahni, also received several Filmfare Award nominations for its actors.
