History

During the 1930s and 1940s, the area was populated by only a few homesteads and was largely composed of marshland. Because of the constant croaking of frogs heard in the area by passersby late at night, the area was referred to as the "Frog Ponds" despite the lack of ponds.

Starting in the mid 1950s, most of these marshlands were drained to make way for the first housing developments in the Redwood area.
