Career

Girard won seven caps (one goal) for France and was a member of the squad that finished fourth at the 1982 FIFA World Cup. Girard won 3 League titles - 1984/85, 1985/86 and 1986/87 as well as 2 French Cup over Marseille in the 1986 and 1987 editions.

Coaching Career

He was last the head coach of the France national under-21 football team and on 03 June 2009 the former Nimes, Strasbourg and France youth teams coach has signed for Montpellier HSC, replacing Rolland Courbis.
