Rich Ira Vos (born June 30, 1957) is an American comedian.[1] Originally from Plainfield, New Jersey, Vos has been a working stand-up for decades. Colin Quinn described Vos in his early days as a "Jersey Hack".

Described by Jim Norton as a "tall dwarf", Vos recently had a DVD released of an hour of his stand-up, entitled "Vos". He also released a CD entitled "I'm Killing Here". He has the distinction of being the first white comedian to perform on Def Comedy Jam. Vos placed 3rd on the first season of NBC's Last Comic Standing and starred in the first and third seasons of Last Comic Standing.

In September 2005, Vos married comedian Bonnie McFarlane, who was seen on season 2 of Last Comic Standing. Together they have a daughter, Rayna Lynn Vos, born on July 31, 2007. He is also a frequent guest on the Opie and Anthony radio program on XM Satellite Radio, often filling in for Jim Norton when he is out of town. He has hosted Saturday night broadcasts as well with McFarlane.

He appeared often on Comedy Central's Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn and is friends with many other New York comedians, including Jim Norton, Colin Quinn, Patrice Oneal, and Dave Mordal. He has been seen on Premium Blend and had two half-hour specials on Comedy Central Presents. He often performs at Caroline's Comedy Club and at the Comedy Cellar in New York.

He served as host of Opie and Anthony's Traveling Virus Comedy Tour in 2006 and 2007.

Comedic style and persona

Vos is known for having incredibly low self-esteem when it comes to his radio show appearances. He commonly uses the phrases "I stink" and "here's the thing" (pronounced "here's da ting") as a lead in to jokes about himself. Often lacking confidence in any of his off the cuff remarks, his off script banter can easily be identified by the transitional "Ahhhh" or "Uhhhh" that follows. In his stand-up he frequently mispronounces words or uses the wrong word altogether when trying to describe something, which, combined with his lateral lisp, lends an air of buffoonery to his performances. [1] Vos is also known for being one of the most fan-friendly comedians today. He can be seen interacting with fans before, during and after shows. He is always willing to sign autographs, take pictures and peddle his DVD. Vos's frequent use of wrong words has been called "Paux Fas."
