Richard Spendlove MBE (born Shepperton Surrey 16 June 1939) is a British radio producer/presenter and television writer.
Richard Spendlove worked for the former British Railways for 35 years, and in 1963 was appointed Relief Station Master at Cambridge, one of the youngest men in that job. He retired from the railways at 50.
He now works for the BBC; His radio show, broadcast every Saturday from 9pm until 11pm is believed to be the longest continually running phone-in show on UK radio. It holds a clutch of local and national awards, and has been running for over 20 years. It is broadcast on various BBC local radio stations in the South and East of England and world-wide on the web. He was awarded the MBE "For Services to Regional and Local Radio Broadcasting" in June 2000.[1][2] For television, with David Croft he created and co-wrote the BBC comedy series Oh, Doctor Beeching!, which ran from 1995 to 1997, making a guest appearance as the inspector, Mr. Ernest Orkindale.
