Rise of the Great Wall (Chinese: 秦始皇) is a 1985 Hong Kong ATV historical drama TV series based on the biography of Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China and founder of the Qin Dynasty. The series is one of the biggest series ever produced by ATV.[2]

Plot

The series follows the life-story of Ying Cheng, the young ruler of the Chun state in the Warring States Period, who will eventually unify China under his Chun Dynasty, and become the first emperor of a united China. The series also includes a subplot based on the life-story of King Or, a young assassin who attempted to take the emperor's life.

The Rise of the Great Wall set a new standard for ATV as most TV series previously produced by the TV station was not as good as those produced by its rival, TVB.[4]
