Mega Man: The Wily Wars, released in Japan as Rockman Mega World (ロックマン メガワールド) is a video game compilation by Capcom for the Mega Drive featuring remakes of the first three Mega Man games (Mega Man, Mega Man 2, and Mega Man 3) that were originally released for the Nintendo Entertainment System. The Wily Wars was released in cartridge format in Japan, Europe, Australia, and Brazil. The North American Genesis version was available exclusively via the Sega Channel service.
The compilation features an upgrade to the original games' visuals, as well as arranged music. An important change is that the compilation provides battery back-up for each game. As a result, is possible to continue Mega Man from a later point in the game, though Mega Man 2 and Mega Man 3 lost the password feature. Other changes include the removal of several glitches found in the original games and the lack of difficulty levels in Mega Man 2 (the game is set to "Difficult" by default).
Upon completion of all three games, an exclusive game mode, called "Wily Tower", is made available to the player. In Wily Tower, Mega Man travels through three different stages fighting against a trio of new bosses called the Mega World Corps (the Genesis Unit in the American version), which after being defeated, the player finally faces Wily in the titular tower. Wily Tower requires the player to equip Mega Man with eight weapons and three support items from any of the three main games to proceed.
This game is considered to be very rare in Europe, and as such, PAL copies of the game regularly fetch amounts over £100. This is due to the European version being the only English language edition available today, with the North American versions being a digital distribution through the Sega Channel and therefore never receiving a cartridge release.

Mega Man The Wily Wars was to Mega Man what Super Mario All-Stars was to Super Mario Bros.: it collected the first three games in the Mega Man series, and updated them with 16-bit graphics. When all three games are beaten and saved to memory, an extra game is unlocked with completely new levels and three new robot masters to fight.
This game was known as Rockman Mega World in Japan. The use of the word "Mega" in the title is not a reference to Rockman's name outside of Japan, but rather to the Mega Drive, on which the game was released.
