H. Roger Wang is the chairman and CEO of The
Golden Eagle International Group. After immigrating to the U.S. in
the 1970s, Mr. Wang returned to China in 1992 and founded the
company in the historic city of Nanjing, marking the first foreign funded
investment for the city. While the company became a successful
conglomerate with endeavors ranging from real estate development to
automotive maintenance, Mr. Wang's main focus has always been
retail. The Golden Eagle Retail Group is an operation of high-end
department stores all over China, being especially dominant in the
developing Jiangsu province. Mr. Wang took the Retail Group public
on the Hong Kong stock exchange in 2006, and continues as the main
shareholder.
Mr. Wang is a very respected businessman and eminent philanthropic
figure in both China and the U.S. Mr. Wang is a main donor of The
Huntington Library in Pasadena, CA and
involved in numerous charitable activities helping the handicapped
and underprivileged. In 2007 Wang was featured in Forbes' notable
List of billionaires
(2007) 102-946 and The Forbes 400 Richest Americans.
Mr. Wang also holds many profitable private assets.
Roger Wang received an MBA degree from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1973 and
was recently recognized as the university's Alumnus of the
Year.
Roger Wang and his wife, Vivine Wang have two daughters, Janice
Wang and Dorothy Wang. Mr. Wang splits time between China and Beverly Hills, California,
where they live and girls attend university.
