Rollerblade is a type of inline skate. The name
is a registered trademark owned by Nordica,
part of the Tecnica Group of Trevignano, Treviso, Italy.[9]
Scott and Brennan Olson sold their Minneapolis company and it became
Rollerblade, Inc.[10]
which has changed hands over time between Nordica, Benetton Group
and Tecnica.[11]
The Rollerblade trademark has been in use since March 1983, but was
first registered as a federal trademark on July 25, 1984 with the
description "Boots equipped with longitudinally aligned rollers
used for skating and skiing".[12] While
the company does not want the meaning of its trademark to be
diluted, the term "rollerblade" is frequently used in casual
conversations as a brandnomer for any inline skate,
regardless of brand. This misuse has also appeared on "official"
items such as signs, buildings, and sidewalks.
This Company is also responsible for the creation of the TRS ("Team Rollerblade Series") model of aggressive inline skates.

Rollerblade contributed $5000 to Action Against Hunger in 2008. This contribution was related to Jack Sisson, a young college student, spending the 2008 summer skating across the United States, from Yorktown, Virgina to San Diego, California, to spread awareness about and raise funds for world hunger.[13][14]
