Rosanna Scotto (born April 29, 1958, Brooklyn, New York) is an American news anchor. She currently anchors WNYW's newscasts from 7-10a.m. with Greg Kelly. Previously, Scotto anchored at 5 and 10 P.M. with Ernie Anastos and Fox 5 Live. Scotto has been the lead female news anchor since 1990. This is the first time that she has been moved from the evening lineup since she joined the station.

Early life

Rosanna Scotto grew up in an Italian-American family in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn. Scotto attended Brooklyn's Packer Collegiate Institute where she graduated in 1977. She attended Catholic University of America, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in fine arts.

Career

Rosanna Scotto began her career in television at WTBS, Ted Turner's UHF television station in Atlanta, where she was a reporter for two local programs and an associate producer of the station's evening newscast. Rosanna Scotto returned to her native New York City in 1982 as a reporter for WABC-TV's Good Morning New York, which eventually became Live with Regis and Kathie Lee. After a year with Good Morning New York and The Morning Show, Rosanna Scotto joined WABC-TV's Eyewitness News as a reporter, where she remained until she joined FOX. Rosanna Scotto started at WNYW-TV in 1986 as a weekend anchor and reporter and later in 1994, she started anchoring the weekday edition of Fox 5 News. Rosanna Scotto has presented with John Roland, Len Cannon, Lyn Brown, Ernie Anastos (on the 5 P.M. and 10 P.M. newscasts) and current co-anchor Greg Kelly on the weekday morning editions of Fox 5 News.

In 1997, Scotto made a cameo appearance as herself on an episode of the FOX police drama New York Undercover.

She appeared in the 1998 movie "The Object of My Affection." as the news anchor.

Personal

Rosanna Scotto (along with her mother Marion, sister Elaina, brothers John and Anthony Scotto) owns the restaurant Fresco By Scotto on East 52nd Street in midtown Manhattan. Their father, Anthony M. Scotto (born 1934) was a New York mobster and labor union racketeer in the Gambino crime family who eventually became the head of the Brooklyn waterfront.

On September 13, 1986, Rosanna Scotto married Louis J. Ruggiero, a law firm associate in New York. Rosanna Scotto and Ruggiero have two children, Jenna and L.J. Rosanna Scotto and her family currently reside in Manhattan.
