Rugby league nines (or simply nines) is a version of rugby league played with 9 players on each side. The game is substantially the same as full rugby league. However, all kicks at goal must be made by drop-kicks. Games also normally last only 15 minutes (7.5 minutes each way).
Nines is usually used in festivals, as it allows for a tournament to be completed in a day or over a single weekend.
In addition, rugby league may also be played under seven-a-side rules, though this is less common than nines.
