  • Rum, a spirit made from sugar-cane by-products such as molasses or sugar cane juice
  • Rûm, a variant of "Rome", was the term by which Muslims referred to the Christian Europeans in general, and the Eastern Romans (Byzantines) in particular in the Middle Ages. Deriving from this:
    • Sultanate of Rûm, a Seljuk sultanate, established on conquered Byzantine territory from 1077 to 1307; later the Ottoman Rüm Province, in northern Anatolia.
    • Rumelia, the "land of the Romans", the European provinces of the Ottoman Empire.
    • Ar-Rum, "the Romans", the 30th sura of the Qur'an.
    • Greeks, Turkish alternative name.
