Run Bhola Run is a story of two convicts, played by Govinda and Tusshar Kapoor, who try to and escape from jail to get hold of Ameesha Patel.[3]
The film went on floors on 27 December 2007 and started being filmed during January 2008 finishing on October 2008 with some portions leftover,[4] which were completed in 2009.[5][6]
The director offered Tusshar Kapoor's and Celina Jaitley's role to Sharman Joshi and Soha Ali Khan respectively, but both of them opted out after initially agreeing to it.[7] Tanushree Dutta was later offered Jaitley's part, but backed out after shooting for one hour due to conflicts with the continuous delays in the shooting schedules.[8]
The film was given several titles such as Run Bhola Run, Lucky 2 and Do Lucky but had finalized on Run Bhola Run. The media often wrote reports about Govinda disrupting the film's shoot by delivering crazy antics but he denied them all.[9][10][11][12] During the rehearsal of a song sequence, Celina Jaitley claimed she was manhandled by Tusshar Kapoor causing bruises on her hands but he objected to her accusation. Following an argument both were not on speaking terms for three days until Kapoor made peace and apologized for grabbing her arms tightly.[13] The film was set for a mid 2008 release,[14] but the late-2000s recession and the multiplex strike caused further delays in the film's shooting and release dates.[15]
