The RPS-001 is an Assault Rifle manufactured by Rung Paisarn Heavy Industries of Thailand. It is an adaption of the Czechoslovak Vz.58 with components from the M16A2. It was introduced during the Advanced Combat Rifle trials. Suprisingly this weapon is of excellent quality and performance.
In the year 1991 for example the armament of the 1 existed. Armored reconnaissance division from the light tank Cadillac Gage Stingray (tank cannon 105 mm), while the 2. Division with American M4A5 and Chinese KPz model 69 was equipped. At the same time the own production was advanced by weapons, then Thailand manufactured the German HK-33 assault rifles and as advancement of American M-16 the RPS-001, with which the elite troops of the Thai SF federations were equipped. This tendency led so far that with the final assembly from self-propelled howitzers M 101 also the entrance took place into the building of heavy tank devices, although Thailand the heavy industry necessary for it is missing.
