Sam Hollander (S*A*M) is an American songwriter and record producer. He has co-written and/or produced songs for Boys Like Girls, Gym Class Heroes, Kelly Rowland, The Cab, Carole King, The Academy Is...[1][2], Cobra Starship, Coheed and Cambria,[3] Metro Station[4], We The Kings, Blake Lewis[5], Train, Sugar Ray, Tom Jones[6][7], All Time Low, David Cook, Arrested Development, O.A.R., and Mike Posner among others.

Highlights include:

Co-writing and producing Gym Class Heroes' Gold Certified CD, As Cruel As School Children, which spawned “Cupid's Chokehold” (Platinum Certified single) which reached #1 (U.S. Top 40) and #3 (UK Top 40)and also included two more Top 40 hits, “The Queen and I” and “Clothes Off”(#5 UK Top 40)

Co-writing and producing songs on Boys Like Girls' sophomore CD Love Drunk, including co-writing the Platinum Certified Top 10 smash "Love Drunk."

Co-writing four songs on Boys Like Girls’ self titled Gold Certified debut CD, including the Platinum Certified Top 10 smash “The Great Escape.”

Co-writing and producing Metro Station's self-titled release, which garnered Multi-Platinum Certified for the worldwide hit single, "Shake It".

Co-writing and producing We The Kings' Gold Certified single "Check Yes Juliet."

Co-writing on Coheed and Cambria's Top 20 alternative hit single, “The Running Free”, from 2007’s No World For Tomorrow.

Co-writing and producing on The Academy Is...' "Fast Times at Barrington High" [9]. The CD was listed #46 on Rolling Stone's 2008 Albums of the Year list.[10] The hit single "About A Girl" was #39 on Rolling Stone's Singles of the Year List for 2008[11].

Co-writing and producing Katy Perry's "If You Can Afford Me" from her Platinum Certified CD One of the Boys.

The two first worked together on the title track for the film Snakes on a Plane (New Line Cinema) performed by Cobra Starship. "Snakes On A Plane" went to #1 on both Fuse and MTV playlists.

Hollander married the former Jennifer Abu in 1999 with whom he created the VH-1 series Mission Manband. The two are parents of a daughter, Joey.

Early years

Hollander was born in New York City, and grew up in Bedford Hills, New York. He graduated from Fox Lane High School in 1988. After high school, he moved to New York City where as part of the duo, Pop Rox, cut his teeth remixing hits for the likes of DMX, Method Man, Montell Jordan, and Master P. From there, Pop Rox wrote and produced international hits for the likes of Carole King,[14] The Baha Men, Static Revenger and The Cooler Kids before parting ways with Pop Rox in 2004.
