Sanpada is a residential node that has been developed by CIDCO since the late 1980s.

In the 1980s, Sanpada used to have problems in the past, such as pollution from the Herdillia chemical plant, black dust from the rock mining, concrete from new developments, automobile exhaust, water shortages, power brownouts and blackouts and high crime rates.

Now the housing market is strong, having created a real estate boom, and property values are rising. The population is growing. Sanpada has developed into a bustling residential area with traffic congestion, inadequate public transit and no open space.

Sanpada is a landlocked area. There is a highway on one side and railway lines on the other two sides. However, the area opposite the Juinagar station is considered part of the town, in hopes of achieving similar popularity.

Sanpada is a rapidly developing residential hub with malls, supermarkets and major amenities. It is isolated from noise and hassle of the commercial area.

Sanpada has been divided into sectors based on the average size of available housing units in each neighborhood. Shree Durga Apartment, O.P.G Tower, Paradise Society, Millennium towers and Aradhana CHS are housing societies of Sanpada. The park in Sector-7 is being used by Sanpadians for playing cricket matches occasionally, but is filled with joggers every day.

Local businesses include a mini digital theater with two screens (Funsquare), a Monginis pasty shop, a sweetmeat shop for snacks (Badhai and Jaslok), a mini vegetable market, a mini grocery store (Foodland), driving schools (Maruti, Pravasi, Tanvi), auto mechanics, novelty stores, Kottakal Arya Vaidya Sala and an Ayurvedic shop in Sec 15. Bhagat Tarachand has opened their new restaurant near Morarj Residency in sector-7. Baskin and Robbins has opened one of their ice cream parlours, which is located at sector-7 Moraj Residency.

Sanapada has a very active Senior Citizen Association with more than 400 registered members. Recently, NMMC provided a recreational center for the senior citizens of Sanapada. it also has a travel agency i.e. khanna travels and holidays at moraj residency shop no. 35. contact no. 9321001010

Sanpada has sparse bus routes within its residential area, but has good railway connections with CST, Thane and Panvel. Recently, a flyover has been built, connecting Sanpada with Palm Beach Road. The new flyover has helped shorten the time to reach to Vashi. It has also provided easy access to heavy vehicles coming to Sanpada market.
