Saredutant (SR 48968) is a psychoactive drug and research chemical that has antidepressant, anxiolytic, and antiemetic properties. It acts as NK2 receptor antagonist. It is currently under development as a novel antidepressant by Sanofi-Aventis with a much different mechanism of action than any currently available antidepressants. As of yet, it has made it to phase III clinical trials.

On May 2009, Sanofi-Aventis published his quarterly results and announced the cessation of 14 projects of research-development, among which was Saredutant in phase III clinical trials, in the treatment of depression[1].
