Paulo Sergio Gómez Sánchez (June 02, 1973 - December 3, 2007), better known as Sergio Gómez, was a Mexican singer who was the founder and lead vocalist of the duranguense group K-Paz de la Sierra.

He was born in the city of Ciudad Hidalgo, Michoacán in 1973. In 2003, while working as an immigrant in the city of Chicago in the United States, he created K-Paz De La Sierra with other native Mexicans also working as immigrants in Chicago. Gomez lived in Avon, Indiana, just west of Indianapolis.[1]

On December 2, 2007, he was kidnapped as he was leaving a concert in Morelia, Michoacán. On the morning of December 3, 2007, his body was found along the side of a highway. He had been strangled and his body showed signs of torture and severe bruising on the thorax and abdomen, as well as cigarette burns on his legs.[2] Early evidence suggests that the murder might have been premeditated as Sergio had been warned not to play in the city of Morelia, a stronghold for drug related gangs.[3]

On December 6, 2007 Gómez, as well as another murdered Mexican musician, Valentín Elizalde, were nominated posthumously for the Grammy Awards. [4]
