Sergio Apraham Markarián (born November 1, 1944 in Montevideo, Uruguay) is a football (soccer) coach of Armenian heritage. He never played football professionally and became a coach in 1974, achieving success in most of the teams he has managed. He was the head coach for Mexican team Cruz Azul. He had the option to be the head coach of Costa Rica national team, but the Federacion Costarricense de Futbol picked Rodrigo Kenton as their head coach. On 20 December 2008, he became the head coach of Chilean giants Universidad De Chile. He resigned the post six months later, after winning the Apertura (Opening) Tournament 2009.
