Shane O'Connor (born 14 April 1990) is an Irish professional football player, who plays as a midfielder for Ipswich Town.

Playing career

O'Connor started his playing career with the Liverpool academy, and started regularly for the U18 team in the early 2008/09 FA Premier Academy League, his last match was a 2–2 draw with Manchester United on 18 October 2008.[1]

A local man who was in contact with some of the Cork hurling & football players,who claimed Shane was an extremely talented soccer player.The man also knew Roy Keanes dad,and passed on the news which led to Shane receiving a trial.On 20 July 2009 it was announced that O'Connor would sign a one-year deal with Ipswich, managed by O'Connor's boyhood hero, Roy Keane.[2] O'Connor made his debut for Ipswich in the League Cup away against Shrewsbury Town, replacing Jack Ainsley as a substitute at half-time. He made his first league start for Ipswich on 20 February 2010 against Sheffield Wednesday. [3]
