Early years

Shanna Crooks was born in Florida on July 31, 1985. She grew up having a complicated childhood that involved moving into multiple homes, stepparents and a number of step- and half-siblings.

Music career

At the age of eighteen, Crooks moved to Nashville, TN to pursue a career in music. Shortly after moving, her songwriting caught the attention of country music superstar John Rich, who signed Crooks to a publishing deal in 2005. She was soon invited to join MusikMafia, the informal collective of Nashville-based musicians and artists co-founded by Rich and his collaborator Big Kenny Alphin. In addition to her MusikMafia ties, Crooks has performed backing vocals for artists ranging from Avenged Sevenfold and Robert Randolph to Randy Jackson and Sam Moore.

Her songs have been featured in national television campaigns for Clean & Clear (“Wakin’ Up To Love”), and recorded by major label artist Kelly Clarkson (“Can We Go Back”).

In 2007, she signed with Atlantic Records and immediately set about recording her debut album, slated for release in 2010.
