Sharad Shetty (1979 - 2003) was an Indian mobster and hotelier, based in Dubai. He was one of Dawood Ibrahim’s top aides and was known to control most of the cricket betting racket in the Indian sub-continent. Shetty also owned a string of high-end hotels, bars and restaurants, which he used as fronts for his illegal activities. He belonged to the powerful Bunt community of South Canara district of Karnataka. Sharad Shetty was shot dead at an Indian club in Karama, Dubai by rival Chhota Rajan henchmen on 19 January 2003. Four gangsters from the Chhota Rajan gang (Karan Singh Mansingh, Manoj Mudanna Kotian, Amar Bahadur Ram and Vimal Kumar Ram) were executed by the UAE authorities as punishment for Shetty's assassination.
