Born into a musical family, Show started playing drums at the tender age of 3 and performed onstage with his parents as a child. He is famously known by his nickname, Xiao Zhu (小豬, which means 'little pig')because during his school years, he was a chubby child.
He won a silver award at a singing contest when he was only 7.[citation needed] Show also joined the '4 Heavenly Kings imitation concert' in 1995 imitating Aaron Kwok, after which he managed to clinch 1st place. Soon in 1996, Show along with other 3 contestants of the reality show, formed 'Taiwan's Four Heavenly Kings', releasing their 1st album in the same year. The group was active in the following years before breaking up in 1998. In the same year, Show along with Ou Di(who is also one of the 'Taiwan's four heavenly kings'), formed "Romeo" and was active in it until year 2000. In 2003, Show launched his solo debut and released his first album 'Show Time' and has since worked on a variety of genres including hip hop, R&B. He has also collaborated with singers like Jolin Tsai, Jay Chou, Vivian Hsu and many other celebrities. His mother is a Taiwanese aboriginal princess of the Amis tribe. Due to his ethnic background, Show often refers himself as the Amis prince.
On October 14, 2005, Show released his 3rd album "Hypnosis SHOW". He collaborated with Jolin Tsai in the song 'zhen ming tian zi' (traditional Chinese: 真命天子) and invited good friend Barbie Hsu to star in his MV 'Self-Hypnotised' (traditional Chinese: 自我催眠) which is written by Jay Chou [1]
At a later part of the same year, Show held his 1st concert at Taipei Arena.
After one full year, Show finally released the album 'SPESHOW' on November 17, 2006. Show decided to titled this album 'SPESHOW" because this was his fourth album with his name included.[citation needed] This was a play on the words "special" and his name "Show". This album would certainly be special because there were many new experiences for both Show and his fans. For the first time, he sang a full English song with Kumi Koda and he also collaborated with the English singer: Simon Webbe. Show also tried his hand at composing a song.[citation needed] This album was so popular that within three months, four different version of the original copy were created with few additional bonus songs.[citation needed]
In this album, Show created his own version on one of the song by Daniel Bedingfield's 'James Dean (I Wanna Know).' Show's version of this song's name is 'The Dance Gate,' translated from the Chinese name.
In this album, Show has sang many affectionate and love songs, inviting actress Ariel Lin(MV Good Friend) and good friend Kumi Koda(Feat Twinkle) to starred with him in few of his music videos. This was his first attempt to sing an English song, something that was difficult for him.[citation needed] He admitted that he spent many hours in trying to pronounce an English word.[citation needed]
Over 400,000 copies of SPESHOW were sold within a few weeks of its release.
In June 2007, Show moved from Avex Trax to EMI Capitol Records. EMI Capitol Records plans to send Show abroad to cities such as New York, London and Tokyo to learn more advanced dancing.[citation needed] On August 13, Show was selected to be the Mandarin spokesperson for High School Musical 2 by singing the Mandarin version of the themesong Bet On it called Bi Sha Ji and the song is included in the High School Musical 2 Soundtrack (Asia Edition).[citation needed]
Show released the 5th album 'SHOW YOUR DANCE' on November 16, 2007. Chinese: Wu Suo Bu Zai
The tour kicked off on June 9, 2007 in Shanghai. The Hong Kong girl group Twins was invited as guests and they sang 'Expert Lover' together with Show.[citation needed] The tour continued on June 30, 2007 in Nanjing, with Jolin Tsai as the guest. The tour travelled to other cities including Beijing, Taipei, Singapore, Jiangsu and Hong Kong in the later part of the year till 2008.[citation needed]
Show Luo had been endorsing McDonalds for many years.[citation needed] He has also been appointed the "Love Ambassador" for McDonald’s World Children’s Day since 2005.[2][3][4] He donates to Ronald McDonald's Charity house as well.[5] During his concerts in Taipei, the Guinness World Records of "most couples hugging simultaneously" was achieved in conjunction with the World's Children Day Concert.[6] This gesture was to inform society to spread love and care to the sick children in hospitals.
Show released his first concert live DVD 'Show On Cruel Stage' on Jul. 11, 2008 which topped the G-music charts three weeks in a row. One of the most popular parts of the DVD features Show's mother appearing on stage, moving him to tears as he hugged her and sang 幾分 to much support from emotional fans.
Show's 6th album, "Trendy Man" was released on Dec. 26, 2008, the same day as Wang Leehom's album. Controversy erupted when Wang Lee Hom's record company Sony accused Show Luo's record company of buying the charts and inflating sales figures. S.H.E. and Fahrenheit's company joined in.[7] The dispute got bigger when prominent popstars like Jay Chou, A-Mei, Mayday, Fahrenheit backed LeeHom while several TV hosts like Jacky Wu showed their support for Show Luo.
Show won the most awards at the first Singapore Entertainment Awards, despite competition from other mandarin pop stars like JJ Lin and Stephanie Sun. He also performed as the opening act for the Asia Music Festival in Korea. Show recently renewed his contract with Gold Typhoon Records. Remembering his debut album where record companies have no him, Show stated his gratitude towards Gold Typhoon. Now, with a record deal proves of his capability and his talent which he is extremely grateful of.
