South Mountain Community College is a community college in Phoenix, Arizona. It is part of the Maricopa County Community College District, and was established by the governing board of the District on April 18, 1978.[1] The college takes its name from South Mountain, which is located a few kilometers to the south of campus. Approximately 8,500 students attend the college, which is located at 7050 South 24th Street, Phoenix, Arizona.

A shooting took place at the college on July 24, 2008. Three people—aged 17, 22, and 25—were wounded, two of them critically. Police reported that the shooter had been arrested.[2]
