Stephen Maguire AKA "Squire" (born 14 February 1987 in Bellshill) is a Scottish professional footballer currently playing with East Stirlingshire following his release from Airdrie United.

He began his career with Motherwell, But after 3 years on the fringes on the 1st team he left to seek 1st team football, he joined Airdrie in August 2008.

He began his Airdrie career with appearances from the bench, but scored the equalising goal in the dying minutes against St Johnstone to earn his team a point.

3 weeks later he started his first game againgst Clyde.

Following Airdrie's relegation to the second division, Although Airdrie offered Stephen a 1 year contract, he decided against staying with Airdrie and had trials with Clyde and Irish side Drogheda United before deciding to join East Stirlingshire.

Squire has started his East Stirlingshire career with a few goals in the early part of the season. His most memorable match was against Livingston when he scored a double in the 3-1 win.

Recently, Having not scored since 2009, On Saturday 6th February 2010, Squire scored another double against Berwick Rangers in the 3-2 win, In this match he was voted the Man Of The Match award.


The fans have taken well to Squire and often sing "Maguire's On Fire" to the tune of Kings Of Leons "Sex On Fire"
