Steven Welch (born July 29, 1976) is a Republican candidate for Pennsylvania's 6th congressional district.

Background

Welch was raised in Chester County, Pennsylvania and graduated from Unionville High School in 1995 and Pennsylvania State University in 1999 in mechanical engineering.[1] After college, in 2001, Welch created the Mitos Group, a biotech company that was acquired by Parker Hannifin in 2007.[2] In 2008, Steve co-founded Dreamit Ventures, a seed-stage startup funding firm, in which he is still a managing partner.[3]

Welch lives in Malvern, Pennsylvania with his wife Nicole and his young children, a son and daughter.

2010 Election

Welch faces incumbent representative Jim Gerlach in the Republican primary in May, 2010.

Awards

Steve was recognized as the 2008 Philadelphia Business Journal Entrepreneur of the Year as well as a member of its "40 under 40."[4] He is also an Eisenhower Fellow.[5]
