From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The substituted cathinones are a chemical class of stimulants, entactogens, and psychedelics. They feature a phenethylamine core with a methyl group attached to the alpha carbon resulting in amphetamine, and a ketone group attached to the beta carbon, along with additional substitutions.

Chemical derivatives

Note that butylone is not a cathinone as it features an ethyl group at the alpha carbon instead of a methyl group.

The same applies to pentylone as well, only with a propyl group instead of ethyl.

Buphedrone is another cathinone-like compound.
