Super Bowl XLVII, the 47th edition of the Super Bowl and the 43rd modern era National Football League championship game, is scheduled to be played in 2013 at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. The exact date has not been set, mostly due to the ongoing question of expanding the current sixteen game schedule as of 2009 to a proposed eighteen-game slate, but the game has typically been held on the first Sunday in February since 2004, which in 2013 will be February 3, 2013.

This will be the tenth time that the city has hosted the ultimate football game, tying with Miami, Florida for the most Super Bowl hosts in one city in history.[1][2] New Orleans beat out Glendale, Arizona and Miami (South Florida) for the right to host the game at the NFL's Spring Ownership Meetings in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on May 19, 2009, and will mark the first Super Bowl game played in New Orleans since Super Bowl XXXVI in 2002, which saw the New England Patriots win on a game-ending field goal over the St. Louis Rams. CBS will broadcast the game. It will be simulcast in Canada by CTV, with all U.S. commercials removed per Canadian federal law.

By being played indoors at the Superdome, it will be the first time three straight Super Bowls are played in indoor stadiums, following Super Bowl XLV at Cowboys Stadium and Super Bowl XLVI at Lucas Oil Stadium. However, Cowboys Stadium and Lucas Oil Stadium each hav a retractable roof, meaning the field can be exposed to the elements at those locations.
