Sword of Legendia is a role-playing game published by Namco Bandai Games, for the Wii. The game is confirmed to not be part of the Tales series. The game is rumored to be a spinoff and not a direct sequel of Tales of Legendia.

Sword of Legendia was revealed during the Wii's preview event on September 13, 2006.[1]

Around that same period, there was a video on the Wii's Japanese website showing various interviews with developers, one of which, was with Makoto Yoshizumi, who was a producer of the original Tales of Symphonia. He was discussing about the controller, and he then showed a single piece of artwork. The game however was unheard of since then, leading many to believe the game was quietly cancelled.[2]

However, the game was still listed on Namco's Japanese website in their Wii games section, even after (and is currently listed alongside with) Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World was revealed back in 2007.[3]

Finally, after the long quiet period, Tsutomu Gouda confirmed on April 16, 2008 that he is in charge of the game, as well as that development is proceeding, and finally that the game is not part of the Tales series.[4]

Although the game still hasn't been unveiled yet, the game continues to remain listed on Namco Bandai's website as of April 2009, even after the website's revision to merge Namco, Bandai, and Banpresto's websites together. The game is still even listed after Tales of Graces's listing addition, thus leaving out any possible speculation that the two are one and the same.

On May 19, 2009, Cubed3 posted an interview with the producer of Fragile, Kentarou Kawashima, asking about if Fragile and Sword of Legendia were in anyway related and if Sword of Legendia was even still in development. Luckily, Kentarou Kawashima confirmed that the game's development is still "on-going" and that the two games are not related, and details are still unable to be disclosed.[5]
