T. K. Rajeev Kumar (born 1961 in Kottayam, India) is an award winning director of Malayalam films. He has also directed a few Bollywood movies.[1] He is settled in Trivandrum, Kerala. Rajeev Kumar served as the Chairman of Kerala State Chalachitra Academy from 2003 to 2006. He was also the Director for the International Film Festival of Kerala from 2003 to 2006 and was the Vice Chairman of Kerala State Chalachitra Academy in 2002.[2] He was nominated as Jury Chairman for Kerala State Film Awards 2007. Now he is associated with JTpac(Jose Thomas Performing Art Center at Cochin) as Artistic Director.[3 ]



Rajeev kumar was born in Thazhathupurrakal family in Kottayam district, Kerala. His school education was in MT seminary high school, Kottayam and SDV school, Alappuzha. His college studies started of from Government Arts College, Trivandrum and graduated from University College, Thiruvananthapuram.

He was the winner of Monoact in Kerala University Youth festivals and Kerala Sageetha Nataka Academy festivals. He was associated with music troupes Blue Birds and Trivandrum Youth Orchestra as a percussion player. He was a member of the popular mimicry group Super Mimics,Trivandrum.

Soon after his studies, he joined State Bank of Travancore. He started his Malayalam film career as an assistant director with the Navodaya Production Company at the age of 21. He had his lessons from the film maker Jijo Punnose, son of Navodaya Appachan. His debut film was Chanakyan which had Kamal Hassan & Urmila Matondkar starring alongside Jayaram. It was critically acclaimed and performed well at the Box Office.
