Taisei Corporation (大成建設株式会社 Taisei Kensetsu Kabushiki-gaisha ?) (TYO: 1801) is a Japanese corporation which was established in 1873. Its main areas of business are building construction, civil engineering, and real estate development.

Taisei has domestic offices in twelve Japanese cities, and overseas offices in Seoul, Taipei, Kaohsiung, Philippines, Myanmar, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, India, Turkey, Abu Dhabi, Frankfurt, U.S.A., and Peru.

History

Taisei was founded in 1873 as Okuragumi Shokai (大倉組商会 ?). It became Nippon Doboku Co., Ltd. (有限責任日本土木会社 ?) in 1887, and was renamed Taisei Corporation in 1946. The company completed Japan's first subway in 1927, the new Imperial Palace in 1968, and the Yokohama Bay Bridge in 1989. It is currently building a 14-kilometer rail tunnel under the Bosphorus which will link the European and Asian sides of Istanbul, Turkey. It has also worked on the Mega Bridge in Thailand, the Can Tho Bridge in Vietnam and Iloilo International Airport in Iloilo City, Philippines.
