Temugin is a fictional character from Marvel Comics. He is a supervillain who has battled Iron Man. He first appeared in Iron Man (volume 3) #53 (2002). Temugin is named after his ancestor Genghis Khan, whose name was Temugin (also spelled Temuchin, Temudjin, u also variates to ü)

As an infant, Temugin was delivered to a monastery in the Himalayas by his father, the Chinese warlord known as the Mandarin. Confident the monks would educate the boy, in the ways of the body and spirit, the Mandarin cut off almost all communication with his son. Temugin took to his studies with vigor and passion, seeking to bury his anger at his father for abandoning him. As a result of the martial-arts training and spiritual guidance provided by the monks, Temugin came to realize that the mightiest weapon of iron is nothing compared to the hand that wields it.
The mini-series, Enter the Mandarin, reveals that after the Mandarin's first encounter with his great enemy Iron Man, he came back to the monastery to forcefully enlist Temugin via his mind control ring to shoot Tony Stark. Temugin enters the United States and becomes a low-level employee at Stark Enterprises. After witnessing Anton Vanko sacrifice himself for Iron Man against the new Crimson Dynamo, Temugin approached Tony Stark that night and shot him in the chest, finding his Iron Man chestplate underneath had protected him and deciphering who Iron Man really was. Stark saved himself by running into an elevator shaft and detonating the armor in his briefcase at his assailant. Temugin survived and escaped the building for the monastery. His father then called him a disappointment as Temugin renounced his father's ways. As the Mandarin proceeded to wipe Temugin's mind of the incident, the son took knowledge in the fact that the warlord would be erasing his only opportunity (at the time) to know his two great enemies, Tony Stark and Iron Man, were one and the same.
Many years later, Temugin's destiny arrived in a box at the monastery following the Mandarin's death in a battle against Iron Man. Inside were the severed hands of Temugin's father, still bearing the ten rings of power once wielded by the criminal. It was then that Temugin learned of Mandarin's last wishes. While Temugin harbored no animosity in his heart toward Iron Man, honor demanded he take Mandarin's place and succeed where the warlord had failed. Temugin must kill Iron Man, otherwise his father's spirit would never find peace.
Luring Iron Man to his father's fortress, Temugin proved more than a match for Iron Man's mechanically enhanced strength. The young warrior stood ready to deliver a killing blow when another of the Mandarin's enemies attacked, and the fortress erupted into flames.
After Tony Stark revealed a conspiracy for mass murder in his own ranks, Temugin appeared to have forgiven Iron Man for the death of his father and to have turned to more lofty pursuits, but recent events indicate the power of the rings have corrupted his soul.
Temugin later makes an appearance in 'MODOK's 11' #4, wherein he has been contacted by the double-crossing Spot, who promptly hands over the weapon that MODOK had been planning to steal. In this appearance, Temugin speaks of the Mandarin as "My Late Father", and bears the Rings, one of which he uses to imprison Spot in another dimension with nothing but money. In the following issue, the Puma tears off at least one of his hands. However, it is possible that he retained at least half of the rings, as Nightshade, who used the rings on his lost hand, was not seen with them at the end of the story.
However, much later he's seen among the Agents of Atlas, appointed as a second in command, and possible replacement, for Jimmy Woo, current head figure for the Atlas Foundation. Now sporting a bulky prosthetic, he initially comes into conflict with Jimmy Woo over what he perceives as cowardly behavior and pointlessly complicated planning on Woo's part. The two gradually become friends over the course of several battles, most notably versus Jade Claw.
Temugin has the ability to channel Chi into superhuman strength, speed, reflexes and enhanced resistance to injury.
Temugin also briefly wore the ten rings of power given to him by his father, the Mandarin.
These have since been reclaimed by his father.
Temugin learned the story from his mother. As they were planning to go on a quest to find the rings, his mother remarried with a man named Shin Zhang. She unfortunately died soon after (it's not said specifically how, thought it mildly implies she was killed), and to Temugin's rage, Zhang claimed the ring for himself. He then used it to take the title of the Mandarin and became leader of his own criminal organization, the Tong.
In the present days of the show, however, Temugin (now calling himself Gene Khan), succeeded in taking back the ring from Zhang, and imprisoned him, posing as him in front of his men thanks to the armor. As the new Mandarin, Gene successfully took another ring from Obadiah Stane, and faced for the first time, Iron Man.
Now leading the Tong as he could, Gene started conflicts with the Maggia. As Gene, he ironically befriended Tony Stark, and enrolled in his school when discovering Stark could help him find the rings. This later causes Gene to team up with Stark, Pepper, and Rhodes in order to get the rings throughout the series. Though overall driven by his desire to get the remaining rings, Gene proved that he took his friendship with the group seriously. He showed it several times: he helps Pepper and Rhodes to get the Stealth Iron Man armor in Field Trip (though he was unaware of what they were doing), and even once risked a gang war in order to save Pepper's life.
As the story progresses, the team find the rings. Gene succeeded to get his second ring activated and later took the third active from Iron Man. However, it was Tony/Iron Man who passed the tests each time, causing Gene to start feeling unworthy of the rings (an idea Zhang took pleasure in reminding his stepson).
At the same time, Pepper, who until now had a dislike of Gene (due to his stepfather being rumored to be a criminal), eventually tried to befriend him in order to keep her friendship with Tony. This accidentally caused her to be taken prisoner by Count Nefaria during a diplomatic discussion between the Maggia and the Tong. Despite the risk, Gene tried to find a way to save her, voluntarily calling Iron Man to do it. However, as Iron Man was forced to fight the Black Knight, Nefaria's henchman, Gene has to save Pepper as his normal self. All of this cause the Tong men to start having doubt about their Master's identity. Ironically, after this, Pepper became obsessed with him (causing him to cringe when he hears there was 11 messages left on his phone as well as how she keeps asking about him). She even suggests Tony and Rhodes tell him about Iron Man (though she eventually changed her mind).
Gene is shown to hate Happy Hogan, who despite being friends with everyone else, Gene can't stand. Usually it's due to his behavior and immaturity An example would be in Don't worry be Happy where he was inside Gene's limousine and stuck his entire body out the sun roof. The one thing that makes Gene hate Happy more than anything else is the nickname he gave Gene, "The Khan". However, Happy is completely oblivious to this, seeing Gene as a friend.
Gene eventually succeeded in passing a test. He had saved Tony, Rhodes, and Pepper (despite not being with them, as he told Rhodes what to do by using the phone). This is the first test he had personally passed.
With only one ring left, Gene is confident that he will soon have all the rings in his possession,n. However, things take a turn for the worst. The Tong release Zhang from his prison and rebel against Gene. He, along with Tony and Pepper, are captured and taken to Machu Pichu in Peru, the location of the last ring. Zhang sends Tony and Gene into the temple first to pass the test and claim the ring for him, using Pepper as a hostage. Gene reveals that the test is the test of sacrifice and the guardian is the legendary dragon Fin Fang Foom. Gene and Tony activate the test but are unsure as to how to pass it. Pepper manages to escape from Zhang, taking his gauntlet and the four rings.
In an attempt to appease Fin Fang Foom, Pepper throws the gauntlet and the rings at the dragon, much to Gene's horror. After being saved by Rhodey who's wearing the War Machine armor (and learning that Tony is Iron Man), Gene and Pepper attempt to escape. Fin Fang Foom gets up and comes after them. Gene seemingly sacrifices himself to save Pepper. However, he passed the test. Inside Fin Fang Foom, he found the gauntlet and the fifth (and seemingly final) ring. Emerging victorious, Gene reveals his identity as the Mandarin to the others. He first attacked Rhodes and said he never liked him.
After knocking out Rhodey, he then engages Tony in combat. Gene goads Tony on by telling him that he was the one who destroyed his father's plane. Gene eventually gains the upper hand but is stopped by Pepper & War Machine, who knocked off his helmet. He then attacks War Machine. Pepper tries to reason with him. But Gene doesn't listen and prepares to attack her. He is stopped by Tony, who tells him that he won't let him hurt any more of his family. As the fight continues, Gene realizes that even with the five rings, he cannot defeat Iron Man. He instead attempts to bargain, telling Tony that he actually took Howard Stark hostage. He also tells Tony that the only way that Tony will find him is to let Gene live. Tony pauses and Gene teleports away from the scene. Pepper & Rhodes manage to return home with an unconscious Tony. Tony & Rhodes believe that the Gene they knew was just an act to fool them. However, Pepper isn't so sure. Gene returns to the temple later and casts the rings aside. He felt that he was not worthy of them because he had genuine feelings for his friends (Another possible reason is that he felt guilty betraying them. He possibly threw them away because they have brought him nothing but pain). As the rings fall, the reveal a holographic map of the globe and the location of five more rings. Gene then reasserts his goal to claim the ten rings of the Mandarin.
